CALMA's mission is to aid laborers, asylum seekers, DACA recipients, and migrants, both newly arrived to the US and those at the US/Mexico border.
We work for, with, and within the communities we serve.
Collective Action For Laborers, Migrants & Asylum Seekers.
CALMA’s community engagement program aims to play a role in ensuring our migrant community has support in navigating resources available to them to be able to establish themselves in a new city and lead successful lives.
Community Engagement
Know Your Rights
The CALMA team participates in community events, work place events, educational panels, and fundraisers to educate the public on our organization and on the current events impacting our communities.
Education
The CALMA Day Laborer Outreach Program brings volunteers to meet with day laborers on the first Saturday of each month at various sites in the Bay Area. Our goal is to provide resources that help inform them of their rights in and outside of the workplace.
Day Laborer Outreach
At CALMA, Know Your Rights (KYR) remains a core pillar of our work, empowering individuals with essential information to protect themselves from ICE and law enforcement. While we are not currently facilitating our own KYR workshops, we continue to incorporate KYR education into programs like our Day Laborer Outreach Program (DLO) and recommend trusted partner organizations offering workshops and resources.
